Ten years ago, I was rushing down to Office Depot to make photocopies of a story I’d written as a Christmas present for our children. I assumed that would be the end of it. Instead, those few manuscripts started getting passed around and, before you knew it, The Shack went from a simple gift meant for friends and family, well, what it is today. I continue to be very grateful for that—this year and every year.
So today, I would like to share with you a very different Christmas gift. A few years ago our son, Nicholas (a wonderful name for this season of the year), was finishing up his undergrad program at Full Sail in Orlando. He hobbled together a recording studio in the closet of his apartment and created a Christmas story for his nieces and nephews, writing the script, supplying all the voices, sound effects etc., and the result is “Operation: Christmas,” a delightful audio story suitable for children of every age.
Nicho has given me permission to share it with you, and I hope you’ll appreciate the wonder and delight he put into this story. Also, please feel free to share it too.
I’d like to thank each of you who have joined me on this journey over the past decade. Hearing your stories about how The Shack, Cross Roads and Eve have been a part of your lives has changed mine for the better. And Merry Christmas, everyone, God bless us, every one!
